The FOUNDER

 

Liana Miller
Founder & CEO

Liana Miller found her passion for public relations more than two decades ago while interning at an up-and-coming creative hot shop - Paine & Associates (now CitizenPaine).  She parlayed what was supposed to be a two-month Summer internship into a six-year gig and never looked back.  Since then, she’s added tenure at international PR giant FleishmanHillard and founded two of her own agencies – including The Engaged Group. 

Liana attributes much of her passion and work ethic to those early days where big idea creativity flowed and excellence was rewarded.  She is committed to shedding the pervasive "tried & true" approach in PR and combines best-in-class strategic counsel, technical proficiency and a cunning sense of what's hot now to ensure campaigns are infused with strength and depth.

Liana’s diverse roster of clients includes work with global consumer, technology and healthcare brands – including Sony, Abbott, Bausch + Lomb, Edwards Lifesciences, Merck, Taco Bell, Hallmark, Dell, Levi Strauss, Anheuser-Busch and Miller Brewing Company – as well as fledgling, innovative start-ups. 

Liana is the recipient of some of the industry’s top honors, including PRSA’s Silver Anvil, PRotos, PRisms, Cipra and MarCom awards.   She sits on many boards and lends agency support pro-bono to charities such as United Cerebral Palsy of Orange County, as well as other educational and women empowerment causes she is passionate about.

Lisa Spicer
Public Relations Professional

 

Lisa Spicer is a public relations professional with 20 years of experience in developing communications strategies for healthcare, consumer product and corporate clients.  She has mapped the public perception of new companies, new brands, new products, as well as more stalwart entities.  As a  principal of The Engaged Group, clients rely on Lisa's refined public relations counsel and expert writing skills to craft campaigns and content that resonates, informs and influences to go beyond simple awareness to create relevance for customers and consumers. 

While the healthcare arena has been a significant focus of Lisa's work for more than a decade, creating strategic communications programming for medical devices, pharmaceutical and consumer products in ophthalmology, cardiology, and dermatology and nutritional sectors, she also  has broad experience managing or informing communication efforts for some of the world's most recognized brands in Food & Beverage (Nestle USA, Anheuser-Busch), Travel & Tourism (United Airlines), Consumer Goods and Services (Kinko's and Yamaha Motorsports USA).

Alan Ampolsk
Strategist and Writer

Alan Ampolsk is a veteran communications executive, campaign strategist and senior writer. He plans, manages, and executes communications campaigns and issues management programs for The Engaged Group's full range of clients.  In addition, he creates new tools and measurement systems that help drive more effective campaigns - direct-to-audience, online and in social and traditional media.  With a background in issues and values research, he is able to pinpoint hot button issues that move audiences to become advocates and take action.

Over the course of a 25-year career, he has guided major corporations and organizations in strategy, message and content development, and in reputation, issues and crisis management.  His programs - which extend across new media and traditional media - blend public relations, advertising and direct-to-audience approaches, including the use of social network analysis to develop corporate blog and social media strategies.  He combines business-to-business, consumer marketing and investor relations techniques.
